Brian's Bite Of The Week

SEATTLE - Brian's Bite this week this week is Lombardi's in Issaquah.

First, I have to say that we intended to check out Jak's in Issaquah which we have heard about but when we got there at 7 o'clock and they don't take reservations by the way, we were told it would be a 2 and half hour wait.

Who is going to sit on a bench for more than 2 hours for dinner?

Anyway, so we went down the street to Lombardi's, where the wait was only about 20 minutes in a comfortable bar and to our delight we discovered it was the 16th Annual Garlic Festival. This neighborhood Italian spot which also has locations in Ballard and Everett, is famous for it's hospitality not to mention the wonderful food.

We had the Caesar salad and Chicken Marsala, chicken breast medallions with a mushroom and marsala sauce that was good but I thought could have been better maybe with some sun dried tomatoes maybe.

We also had Lombardi's Flat Iron Steak which was marinated in a fig balsamic vinegar and came with fingerling potatoes, onions and fresh sautéed spinach and was very tasty.

They also make a ravioli and smoked salmon that comes with a pesto sauce, summer peas and pine nuts that I thought also would be a good choice.

Most entrees are under 17 dollars.

And what would an Italian place be that didn't make Tiramisu? Lady fingers soaked with rum, espresso, layered with cream sprinkled with chocolate.... and the celebration of the stinking rose continues until the end of the month.

Did I mention the chocolate garlic ice cream we tried?
